What is the Beachport Crayfish Festival about?

The Beachport Crayfish Festival celebrates the town of Beachport and our most important crustacean, the Southern Rock Lobster!

The idyllic town of Beachport has a thriving crayfish industry with 18 cray boats operating out of the port.

Did you know that over 100 people work in the industry directly as crew, or indirectly as suppliers, processors, and exporters?

The Beachport Crayfish Festival is an opportunity for the community to come together, and to introduce the many tourists who visit our lovely town and stunning coastline to everything crayfish.

So, bring the family to Beachport for an amazing day of local food, wine and entertainment.

Will there be crayfish to eat?

You betcha!

As always, crays, and cray infused meals will be in high demand during the Crayfish Festival. The Lobster Pot will be taking pre-orders so you can skip the queues. There will also be food truck and seafood vendors that you can buy from on the day, including Fat Mullet, Beachport Lions Octopus, Beachport Takeaway and Best Ociana. They will all be offering cray-infused meals and other seafood offerings.

What if I don’t like Crayfish?

Don’t worry, there will be lots of food trucks and plenty of other delicacies from local producers. Including delicious eats from the Rivoli Bay Lions, Fairy Floss Kingdom, Happi Belli Vietnamese, Millicent Lions, Old Style Lolly, Rivoli Bay Burgers, Southern Hotdogs, Strawberries Galore, Spiral Spuds & Tant Icecream & Donuts. 

Is this a licensed event?

Yes! There will be plenty of local wineries, breweries and distilleries at the event for you to sample. Including some sublime sips from Cape Jaffa Wines & Loophole Brewing Co., Cheeky Rascal Cider, Parker Estate Coonawarra, Norfolk Rise Vineyard, Raidis Estate, Rymill Coonawarra, Sinkhole Gin, St Mary’s Wines & Spirits, Wild Game Wine, Woolstore Brewery & Zema Estate.

Will there be entertainment? 

OMG! Yes! So much music and dancing!

Many great local musicians will be rocking the South East Property Stage including Leah Briggs, Christy Wallace, JB (Jason Baker), Low Expectations, and Juicy X!

There is also an awesome line-up of Craytastic events!

Mayura x Crayfish Masterclass

We’re bringing a world-class culinary showcase to the stage. Join Executive Chef Mark Wright, the epicurean talent behind Mayura Station’s award-winning The Tasting Room, for an exclusive Masterclass Cooking Demonstration!

But I like shopping. Will there be any market stalls?

Yes. Dozens of stalls for you to buy that perfect something will be set up at the entrance to the festival.

Anything to do for the kids?

Totally!!! There will be face painting, a giant slide, laser tag, lots of giant games and plenty more to keep the kids entertained.

So what does it cost?

Regular Tickets $33*

Concession holders and 14-17 year olds tickets are $27.50*

Tickets for companion card holders and children 13 & under are free! Reserve them online so you don’t miss out.

Be sure to bring your card along for inspection on arrival.

A family pass is $93.50*

*All tickets are subject to the Humantix booking fee of 2.5% + $0.50 per paid ticket.

We have partnered with Humantix for event ticketing as they give 100% of their profits to charity.

Is there anything else to do in Beachport?

For sure! Beachport is an idyllic seaside town with a rugged coastline, scenic views playgrounds, golf course, and shopping and dining options.

Has South Australia’s Algal Bloom reached Beachport?

No, Beachport has not been affected by South Australia’s algal bloom. Fortunately for us, the algal bloom has not moved this far south. For the latest information regarding the algal bloom visit the SA Government’s Affected Areas webpage.

Is the water clean at Beachport?

Yes, South Australia’s algal bloom has not reached Beachport, nor the neighbouring coastal towns of South End and Robe. As always, you can swim and play in our pristine waters, catch and enjoy the fish (and crayfish!), and explore our beautiful coastline without concern.

What are the accommodation options in and around Beachport?

While there are usually plenty of accomodation options in Beachport, during the weekend of the Crayfish Festival accomodation does tend to sell out fast, so book early!

What can I bring in?

Camping chairs! While there will be seats and tables at the festival, there will not be enough for everyone. To ensure you have a place to rest, it would be best to bring along a foldable camping chair. 

All visitors will receive a reusable cup on arrival as we have refill stations available, however, you are still free to bring in your own water bottle.

Patrons are not allowed to bring in their own alcohol, although not to fear, there’s a great variety of local drops to be tried!

Lastly, with the exception of service dogs, no pets are allowed inside the festival.
